Distributing entanglement : towards the quantum internet ?

The construction of a delocalised architecture for quantum information processing and communication is an appealing route whose viability relies, crucially, on the ability to establish quantum channels for communication and distributing entanglement (or general quantum correlations) to remote, non-interacting processors. This is precisely the aim of this seminar, whose goal is to show that entanglement between distant local processors can in fact be distributed efficiently in scenarios that are currently addressed
by many experimental endeavours and with the only requirement of having pre-available continuous-variable entanglement. The talk will also address the possibility to "distribute entanglement without entanglement", thus highlighting the role that quantum discord plays in this problem.
