Measuring the electrical properties of semiconductor nanostructures is often difficult and unreliable owing to the complexity
of forming suitable contacts to these materials. Terahertz radiation may be utilised as a convenient non-contact probe of a
material’s AC conductivity, thereby removing the need to form contacts. In this seminar I will provide an introduction to
THz AC conductivity measurements and present our latest results on the electrical properties of III-V nanowires,
InP honeycomb structures, charge ordered nickelates, polymer-fullerene blends and quantum cascade lasers.
